The classes will take place as part of the Christchurch Education Fair on May 17 in Ho Chi Minh City and May 18 in Hanoi.

The high schools involved in the program include Avonside Girls High School, Burnside High School, Craighead Diocesan School, Hillmorton High School, Lincoln High School, Middleton Grange School, Mountainview High School, Papanui High School, Riccarton High School, Shirley Boys High School, Villa Maria College, and Wairarapa Cobham.

Participating universities include Ara Institute of Canterbury, Lincoln University, NZ College of Business, University of Canterbury, UC International College, and University of Otago - Christchurch.

During the event, teachers from participating high schools and academies will conduct hands-on STEM lessons through a "Build the Tower" activity.

Students will be trained in critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, core competencies emphasized in New Zealand's education system.

Christchurch is currently home to over 7,500 international students, including around 130 from Vietnam. The city ranks among the top 80 best cities for global students, according to the 2025 QS ranking, with all three of its universities placed in the top two-percent of the world's best universities.

"By simulating real-life classroom settings, we offer an authentic glimpse into our modern, learner-centered teaching approach that encourages students' creativity," said Stefi Porter, Regional Manager for International Education at Christchurch Educated.

"Vietnamese families will gain deeper insights into how New Zealand teachers support students and the dynamic learning environment in Christchurch," Porter added.

Parents are encouraged to attend the lessons with their children to observe teaching methods and teacher-student interactions firsthand.

After each class, students will receive a certificate from Education New Zealand (ENZ) and Christchurch Educated.

In addition to the STEM lessons, a variety of events will take place throughout May to introduce New Zealand's culture, lifestyle, and study opportunities.

On May 18 in Hanoi, the "Hello Summer – Hello New Zealand" event will be held in the form of a mini summer camp, with the participation of Caroline Beresford, New Zealand's Ambassador to Vietnam.

High school students will take part in interactive games, enjoy New Zealand treats like pastries and ice cream, meet with alumni, and receive gifts.

Following this, the New Zealand Adventure Day 2025 will be held on May 24 in Ho Chi Minh City by the UEH-International School of Business under the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and ENZ.

Students will experience cultural games, explore iconic New Zealand symbols, and hear real-life stories from Vietnamese alumni who studied in New Zealand.
