On Tuesday, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Border Gate Police said they had recently transferred the case of a passenger carrying five 12.7mm military-grade bullets in checked baggage to Ho Chi Minh City Police for further investigation and handling within their jurisdiction.

On September 6, while conducting security screening at Terminal 3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, officers from the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Border Gate Police detected a passenger carrying nine items suspected to be bullets and bullet casings in checked baggage.

Upon inspection, police determined that the baggage belonged to L.N.D.H., 21, who was traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa Province.

Inspecting H.'s checked backpack, police officers found four items suspected to be bullet casings and five items suspected to be military-grade bullets.

During questioning by authorities, H. said the items had been found while he was involved in sand mining in Vinh Long Province in August and that he had kept them for collection purposes.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport Border Police quickly verified the case, collected relevant documents and evidence, and worked with the Forensic Science Division of Ho Chi Minh City Police to examine the seized items.

The examination found that the five items were usable 12.7mm military-grade bullets.

The case has now been transferred to Ho Chi Minh City Police for further investigation.
