2 juveniles detained for throwing rocks at train, shattering windows in Ho Chi Minh City

Police in Ho Chi Minh City have detained two juveniles for allegedly throwing rocks at a North–South passenger train, shattering windows and raising safety concerns, authorities said on Friday.

The incident occurred at about 7:33 pm on Thursday, when train SE5 was traveling through Di An Ward, on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City.

At that time, stones thrown from the trackside broke a fixed window on car No. 10 and the front windshield of locomotive No. 920, police said.

Local police, working with railway traffic officers, reviewed onboard camera footage and conducted field checks before identifying the suspects, a 15-year-old identified as N.T.P. and a 14-year-old identified as N.Q.K., both residents of Di An Ward.

The two were brought in for questioning on Friday evening.

Authorities are compiling case files and assessing damage to determine further handling under the law, police added.
