The provincial People’s Council recently passed a resolution increasing the museum project’s funding to VND732 billion from the initial VND700 billion ($27 million).

Work on the project was scheduled to last from 2024 to 2028.

The additional funds were allocated to cover unforeseen compensation costs related to land acquisition from the existing Binh Dinh cultural center at 86 Le Duan Street in Quy Nhon City.

The museum will span approximately 1.3 hectares and have a total floor area of around 15,860 square meters.

It will feature a main lobby, temporary and permanent exhibition areas, artifact storage, a library and research rooms, observation areas, administrative offices, visitor services, technical rooms, and outdoor facilities such as event spaces and parking lots.

The new museum is meant to effectively collect, preserve, and display historical artifacts and materials, offering visitors a comprehensive overview of Binh Dinh’s rich history and contributions to Vietnam’s national narrative.

Once completed, the museum is expected to become a significant architectural landmark, serving both community cultural needs and attracting local and international tourists.

Lam Hai Giang, vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the current provincial-level museum at 26 Nguyen Hue Street in Quy Nhon City lacks sufficient space and facilities.

The new one at 86 Le Duan Street will resolve these issues, while the existing facility will be repurposed primarily for healthcare and educational use.
