Lieutenant Colonel Dao Xuan Truong, police chief in Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province, on Monday confirmed that Doan Anh Quoc, 23, Nguyen Thanh Dat, 38, and Huynh Thanh Danh, 27, all residents of Khanh Hoa, were placed under criminal detention for investigation on charges of public disorder.
At about 4:00 am on Tuesday last week, four foreign tourists were sitting outside Q’Bar on Nguyen Thien Thuat Street when they began arguing with another foreigner.
Dat, the younger brother of the bar’s owner, stepped in to intervene but was struck by one of the tourists.
Quoc, a bar employee, then rushed out carrying a billiard cue, a wooden stick, and a metal rod.
Together with Danh, the group chased and attacked the tourists in the street.
The tourists tried to fight back but were overpowered and fled.
The incident was recorded by bystanders on video and quickly spread across social media, drawing public attention.
At the police station, Quoc, Dat, and Danh admitted to their actions.
Authorities said they are continuing to collect evidence and will pursue charges in accordance with Vietnamese law.
