A local official confirmed on Tuesday morning that a wartime bomb weighing approximately 350 kilograms was uncovered in Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam.

A construction team working on a riverbank erosion control project unexpectedly found the unexploded bomb, believed to be a leftover from the war in Vietnam, on Monday afternoon.

The bomb was discovered during an excavation along the Ngan Mo River in Cam Due Commune, Cam Xuyen District.

The team immediately stopped work and reported the discovery to local authorities, who cordoned off the area while waiting for experts to assess and handle the ordnance, said Vo Ta Ky, chairman of the Cam Due administration.

A bomb disposal team arrived to survey the site, the same location where a 400-500 kilogram wartime bomb was discovered in 2020.

The team confirmed that the provincial military command is preparing a plan to safely remove and detonate the newly found bomb.
