The Economic Police Division under the provincial Department of Public Security, in collaboration with relevant authorities, on Monday inspected a frozen food establishment and a pork skin processing facility in Hac Thanh and Nguyet Vien Wards.
During an unannounced inspection of Duy Xinh Trading and Services Company on Nguyen Duy Hieu Street and its trading point at Dong Huong Wholesale Market in Hac Thanh Ward, officers confiscated nearly two metric tons of frozen food.
The items included poultry ovaries, pork udders, shredded pork floss, dried beef, pork, fishcakes, squid cakes, squid, octopus, abalone, and various other frozen products.
According to police, the entire shipment lacked labels, packaging, or documentation proving its origin.
Authorities warned that the goods posed potential food safety and hygiene risks that could negatively affect consumers’ health.
During questioning, the business owner admitted that the products had been purchased at low prices from informal sources on the market.
The goods were then frozen and mainly supplied to street stalls, hotpot restaurants, beer eateries, and eateries.
In a separate inspection, officers examined a household business run by Nguyen Thi Oanh on Nhu Xa 1 Street in Nguyet Vien Ward.
More than two metric tons of pork skin with no traceable origin was found stored on the premises.
The pork skin was reportedly intended for processing into shredded pork skin for sale.
The division is continuing to coordinate with other agencies to verify the origin of the seized goods and handle the cases in accordance with the law.
