The tremors, recorded between about 5:00 am and after 8:00 am, measured between magnitude-2.6 and -3.1 in Tra Linh and -2.8 in Mang But, with focal depths of about 8.1 km.
The quakes posed no disaster risk and are being monitored by the institute’s earthquake and tsunami warning center, its director Nguyen Xuan Anh said.
Three additional tremors of magnitude-2.8 to -3.4 were recorded in Mang But late on Tuesday, he added.
