The Binh Tan People’s Committee issued over 120 commitments to local residents, urging them not to occupy sidewalks and to voluntarily remove any non-compliant structures.
The enforcement team of the ward on Thursday worked with residents to dismantle temporary structures such as canopies and metal frames encroaching on the sidewalk along Street No. 2.
One such case involved a street food vendor voluntarily removing a metal-framed signboard that extended onto the sidewalk.

Tran Duc Minh, vice-chairman of the Binh Tan Ward People’s Committee, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the roadway and sidewalk-clearing campaign has been a key focus since the nation’s two-tiered local administration model began on July 1.
The district level has thus been scrapped.
Several action plans have been put into place to address the issue of sidewalk and roadway encroachment.
The ward has been committed to maintaining clear sidewalks and roadways, ensuring urban aesthetics and environmental hygiene.
Local vendors are required not to encroach on sidewalks for trading operations and to adhere to regulations.
In the coming time, Binh Tan Ward will deploy patrol teams to monitor and crack down on the illegal use of sidewalks and roadways for vending, unauthorized parking, and other activities that hinder traffic flow.
Both routine and unannounced inspections will be conducted on all streets.
The new Binh Tan Ward was formed by merging Binh Hung Hoa B Ward with parts of Binh Tri Dong A and Tan Tao Wards in former Binh Tan District.
Covering an area of 11.253 square kilometers, the ward is home to some 161,850 people.
After the national merger, which took effect on July 1, the city has 102 commune-level administrative units, including 78 wards and 24 communes.
