6 Nigerians found overstaying in Vietnam’s Nha Trang

The immigration management division under the Khanh Hoa Police Department said on Thursday that it was coordinating with other police units to investigate the six Nigerian nationals for allegedly violating Vietnam's immigration regulations.

Authorities are also determining the responsibility of the owners of the two accommodation establishments in Bac Nha Trang Ward and Nha Trang Ward, where the six men were staying, for handling in accordance with the law.

The case was uncovered after a task force from the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the Khanh Hoa Province Police Department's immigration management division, conducted surprise inspections at the two accommodation establishments.

All six had entered Vietnam in 2024 and had remained in the country for more than one year beyond the expiration of their permitted stay.

The Khanh Hoa Police Department's immigration management division urged accommodation providers to strictly comply with the requirement to declare the temporary residence of foreign guests immediately upon their arrival.

Authorities warned that assisting, concealing, or failing to report foreigners who have overstayed or entered the country illegally constitutes a violation of the law and may result in administrative penalties or criminal prosecution, depending on the severity of the offense.

Foreign nationals living and working in Vietnam were also advised to regularly check the validity of their visas and temporary residence cards and comply with Vietnam's immigration regulations.
