The case was uncovered during a review of foreign residents and workers in the area.
Investigators discovered that H.M.T. Company was employing seven Cambodian citizens without proper immigration documents or work permits required under Vietnamese law.
Local police compiled initial reports and transferred the case to the provincial Immigration Office, which then fined both the company owner and the seven Cambodian workers a total of VND138 million (US$5,335).
Following the penalties, the Immigration Office coordinated with the Vinh Hoi Dong Border Guard Station in An Giang Province, southern Vietnam to repatriate the workers to Cambodia.
The deportation was carried out under the bilateral agreement on border regulations between Vietnam and Cambodia.
