A puffer fish
Luu Huynh Phuc, director of Binh Thuan General Hospital, said four patients were admitted on Wednesday night, all showing symptoms of puffer fish poisoning, including fatigue, chest tightness, numbness of the lips and limbs, and urinary retention.
“One case remains in critical condition, while three others have passed the danger stage and are being monitored in the intensive care unit,” Phuc said.
Doctors diagnosed the patients as being in the fifth hour of poisoning, with severe respiratory failure as the main complication.
Five additional people from the same family also showed mild symptoms but did not require hospitalization.
