The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Agriculture and Environment recently suggested these prime land plots, following policy directions from city leaders, including Tran Luu Quang, secretary of the municipal Party Committee, and Nguyen Van Duoc, chairman of the administration.
The list includes the site at 8 Vo Van Tan Street in Xuan Hoa Ward, originally planned for the Phan Dinh Phung indoor stadium project.
The proposed land plots in Saigon Ward are at 33 Nguyen Du Street; 34-36 and 42 Chu Manh Trinh Street; 135 Nguyen Hue Street; 2-4-6 Hai Ba Trung Street; 8-12 Le Duan Boulevard.
Two other sites in Cau Ong Lanh Ward are located at 87 Cong Quynh Street and 74 Ho Hao Hon-289 Tran Hung Dao Street.
These plots sit along major city roads with heavy traffic, bordering residential neighborhoods and bustling commercial areas.

Many remain fenced off and unused despite their prime locations.
Most of the sites have relatively flat terrain, making them suitable for temporary conversion into public spaces, parks or flower gardens to meet the needs of residents and tourists for leisure and walking during the early days of the Lunar New Year.
For example, the one at 8 Vo Van Tan Street is currently an empty lot enclosed by metal fencing, with bare ground and naturally growing grass inside.
Similarly, the plots at 33 Nguyen Du Street and along Chu Manh Trinh Street remain vacant despite being located in the heart of the city.
On Nguyen Hue Street, the 135 Nguyen Hue site linked to the former Saigon Tax Trade Center project is still fenced off, with propaganda posters attached. The surrounding area, however, is one of the city’s most vibrant pedestrian zones, hosting frequent commercial fairs and tourism activities.
