The incident occurred on Wednesday in Mook Trang Hamlet of Ia Dom Commune, said Le Trong Phuc, chairman of the commune’s administration.
The victims, aged 10 to 14, showed symptoms of poisoning such as nausea, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, and numbness of the lips and tongue shortly after eating the toad meat.
The students were rushed to a local health station for first aid before being transferred to Gia Lai Children’s Hospital.
Dang Huu Chien, director of the hospital, said two of the patients have since been discharged, while the others remain under observation but are in stable condition.
Chien added the children were fortunate to suffer only mild poisoning and are expected to fully recover in the coming days.
Following the incident, the local administration dispatched officials to Mook Trang to warn residents about the dangers of eating toad meat, which can be highly toxic if not properly prepared.
