On September 17, a passenger reported to the Noi Bai International Airport police that they had lost VND50 million in cash from their checked baggage on a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi.

Upon receiving the report, the Noi Bai International Airport police promptly launched an investigation to verify the incident.

By October 14, the police had identified the suspect as Tran Phuong Anh Vu, 26, a resident of Tan Son Nhi Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Vu was employed as a baggage handler for an airline.

At the police station, Vu admitted to the theft.

He took advantage of a lapse in security during the baggage handling process at Tan Son Nhat International Airport to search through a passenger's luggage and steal the cash.

The Noi Bai International Airport police have transferred Vu and the recovered evidence to the Tan Son Hoa Ward police station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
