Another body found in capsized boat incident in Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay

At 11:30 am on Tuesday, the Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station dispatched a team of five officers with a rescue boat.

They retrieved the body of a male victim, described as tall and well-built, around 40 years old, wearing shorts and a gray T-shirt. 

A black phone was found in his pocket, and he had short hair.

The body has been brought ashore and handed over to the authorities for identification and to help locate the victim's family.

At noon on Monday, the Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station, in coordination with the Ha Long Bay Management Board, recovered the body of a young boy near Ti Top Island in Ha Long Bay.

Authorities later confirmed the child, born in 2019, was one of the victims of the tourist boat capsizing.

Despite the impact of storm Wipha, the third storm to enter the East Vietnam Sea this year, rescue teams remain on high alert, continuing efforts to search for the remaining missing victims.

The boat, carrying 49 people, was overturned by a sudden thunderstorm in Ha Long Bay.

Rescue operations began immediately, involving the Border Guard of Quang Ninh Province, the provincial police, the Ministry of Public Security, and others.

Nearly 1,000 personnel and more than 100 vehicles have participated in the ongoing search and rescue operation.

So far, 10 people have been rescued alive, 36 bodies have been found, and three victims are still missing.

The three missing individuals are Hoang Van Thai (born in 1985), Hoang Viet Hung (born in 1979), and Hoang Thi Quyen (born in 1975).
