Audi car catches fire at entrance to underpass in Hanoi

At about 11:15 am on Saturday, a car fire broke out at the Thanh Xuan underpass.

The driver, identified as V.D.A., born in 1992 and from northern Bac Ninh Province, was driving a five-seater Audi along Nguyen Trai Street toward the underpass in the Ha Dong-Nga Tu So direction when smoke began rising from the front of the vehicle.

Flames then spread rapidly. Local police and militia forces attempted to put out the fire using extinguishers but they were unsuccessful.

After receiving reports of the incident, Hanoi’s Fire and Rescue Police Department dispatched two fire trucks and personnel to the scene. 

Traffic police also cordoned off the area and temporarily closed the entrance to the underpass to divert traffic.

The fire was fully extinguished before noon.

No injuries were reported, though the front of the vehicle was badly damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
