This year's round, themed ‘High-Tech Innovation to Address Challenges in Agriculture for Sustainable Development,’ is seeking applications that leverage technology to enhance productivity, resource efficiency, and climate resilience in Vietnam's agricultural sector.
Building upon the successful delivery of four previous grant rounds, the fifth round reaffirms Australia's commitment in helping to enhance the capability of Vietnam's innovation ecosystem.
Individual grants of AUD300,000-700,000 ($193,190-450,785) will be awarded on a competitive basis to existing partnerships between Australian and Vietnamese organizations to support tested initiatives that are ready to be scaled.
Grantees will have up to 24 months to implement their proposed activities.
Applications are open until June 24, 2025.
The first round of grants focused on developing partnerships between organizations in Australia and Vietnam with no limitation to the project topic, with a total fund of AUD1.7 million ($1.1 million).
The second round of the Aus4Innovation Grants, part of the Aus4Innovation program, was themed around scaling existing Australia-Vietnam innovation partnerships.
Five projects received funding in this round, out of a total of 82 applicants.
A total of AUD2 million ($1.2 million) was provided in funding which enabled the five projects to scale up their innovative ideas and create sustainable economic and social impact.
The third round of grants financed four high-tech projects with total funding of nearly AUD1.4 million ($902,300).
Cutting-edge technologies, capable of enhancing agricultural efficiency and promoting sustainable practices in Vietnam, were at the forefront of the successful recipients of Round 4 of the Innovation Partnership Grants.
A total of AUD1.45 million ($934,545) was awarded to three projects aiming to change the landscape of agricultural farming practices across Vietnam.
The Aus4Innovation program, launched in 2018, is jointly sponsored by Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and managed by CSIRO in partnership with Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology.
It aims to strengthen Vietnam's innovation system and to promote climate-smart, inclusive growth in agriculture and food systems.
