The opening ceremony will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the cable car plaza near the mountain, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, which is organizing the event in partnership with local and national entities.

Held under the theme ‘The Legend Run,’ this year’s marathon is expected to draw approximately 8,000 runners across four race distances—5, 10, 21, and 42 kilometers—set along routes around Ba Den, the highest peak in southern Vietnam.

Race kits and bibs will be distributed on Saturday, with the competition officially kicking off on Sunday morning.

Both the start and finish lines are located at the cable car plaza.

This marks the fifth consecutive edition of the marathon and the first time Tay Ninh is hosting a race certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races and the Vietnam Athletics Federation.

With its new certification, official race results will now qualify runners for global marathons such as those in Boston and New York.

The event is open to professional athletes, amateur runners, and recreational participants from Vietnam and abroad.

The 42-kilometer marathon begins at 3:30 am on Sunday, followed by the 21-kilometer half marathon at 5:00 am, the 10-kilometer race at 6:00 am, and the 5-kilometer fun run at 7:00 am.

Organizers said that the course has been meticulously measured and verified to meet international standards, including criteria related to distance, terrain, elevation, and weather conditions.

These ensure a fair, challenging, and professionally managed race environment.

Beyond its competitive structure, the marathon route offers runners a scenic and culturally immersive experience.

Participants will pass iconic Tay Ninh landmarks such as Nui Da Lake, Ma Thien Lanh Valley, and the Cao Dai Holy See.

More than VND280 million (US$10,680) in total prizes will be awarded, including VND166 million ($6,340) designated for the top finishers in the 21- and 42-kilometer categories.

The closing and awards ceremony takes place from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Sunday at the same plaza.

Launched in 2021, the Baden Mountain International Marathon has become one of the largest and most recognized running events in Tay Ninh and across Vietnam’s southeast region.
