The carved wooden statues showcased at the contest, as part of the festival, reflect themes deeply rooted in the daily life, beliefs, and traditions of the Bhnong community.
Scenes of farming, cultural festivals, and traditional musical performances such as gong playing are vividly brought to life through the skilled hands of local artisans.

Among the participants is 30-year-old artisan Ho Van Kiem from Phuoc Chanh Commune, who was seen carefully carving a wooden figure of a man playing gongs.
With steady hands and focused precision, Kiem shaped expressive facial features and detailed textures that gave the statue a lifelike presence.
“I am very pleased to take part in this festival and the wood carving competition,” Kiem shared.
“It is a meaningful way to help preserve and promote the traditional cultural identity of the Bhnong people."

At an exhibition space managed by Village 5, artisans present a wooden sculpture themed ‘maternal love.’
According to village leader Do Tuan Vu, it took nearly a week for two skilled artisans to prepare and carve the statue.
Nguyen Quoc Ky, vice-chairman of the People’s Committee of Phuoc Chanh and deputy head of the festival organizing committee, said the event is aimed at preserving and promoting the cultural values of the Bhnong ethnic group in connection with tourism development.
The fest features a wide range of activities such as an exhibition of traditional cultural artifacts, displays of agricultural products, re-enactments of traditional rituals, a wood sculpture competition, and various sports and folk games.
