A large blue shark has died after it became stranded in a river in the north-central Vietnamese province of Quang Tri.
The blue shark, weighing about 200 kilograms and measuring 2.5 meters in length, was found stranded in Ben Hai River about one kilometer from its estuary in Vinh Giang Commune, located in Quang Tri’s Vinh Linh District, at around 10:00 pm on Tuesday.
The shark was still alive but very weak when it was found.
Local fishermen found a hook in the large fish’s mouth after bringing it ashore.
The shark died shortly afterward.
It took local people about one hour to take the body of the dead fish to Tung Luat Village for its burial.
It was reported that the same fate had previously met another blue shark in the locality.
