Boat accident in central Vietnam leaves 1 dead, 1 missing

A boat capsized in the Song Tranh 4 hydropower reservoir in Quang Nam Province, located in central Vietnam on Friday afternoon, claiming the life of an 11-year-old kid and leaving a 46-year-old man missing, authorities confirmed the same day.

The boat, steered by Phung Van Thu, residing in the province’s Tien Phuoc District, was carrying seven passengers, including four children, from Tien Phuoc’s Tien Lanh Commune to Hiep Duc District’s Phuoc Gia Commune at around 3:45 pm.

When the boat was plying across the reservoir, it suddenly overturned, leaving passengers falling into the reservoir.

Local inhabitants who were fishing in the reservoir managed to save six people.

After a search and rescue operation was launched for the remaining two victims, both residing in Tien Phuoc, rescuers recovered the body of P.V.H., 11, while T.N.H, a 46-year-old man, remained missing.

Rescue efforts are underway to look for the missing man.
