-- Vietnamese lender TPBank plans to establish a wholly owned subsidiary with a charter capital of VND3 trillion (US$113.5 million) at the Vietnam International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City, according to documents prepared for its 2026 annual general meeting.

-- Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance reported that state budget revenue in the first quarter of 2026 reached VND829.4 trillion ($31.4 billion), equal to 32.8 percent of the year’s estimate and up 11.4 percent compared to the same period in 2025.

-- Nine wind and solar power projects in Gia Lai Province have drawn investor interest, with a total planned capital of about VND11.35 trillion ($430 million), local authorities said on Friday, as the Central Highlands province pushes to become a renewable energy hub.

-- Northern Vietnam is forecast to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms on Saturday due to a cold air mass, while intense heat grips central and southern regions, according to the national weather center.

-- A major water pipe burst in southern Ho Chi Minh City will cause low water pressure in multiple communes and wards for 48 hours, starting 10:00 pm on Sunday, as authorities work to repair the damaged pipeline, the city’s water utility SAWACO said.

-- Health authorities in Dak Lak Province confirmed 26 cases of chickenpox at an elementary school and moved quickly to contain the outbreak, officials said on Friday, after dozens of suspected infections emerged among students in Ea Rieng Commune.

-- Vietnam’s Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday assessed a proposal to establish Dong Nai Province as a centrally governed city, saying the southern province has met all seven conditions required and achieved 13 of 15 criteria for a Class I urban area.

-- A ninth-grade student drowned in the Kien Giang River in Le Thuy Commune, Quang Tri Province, after jumping from a riverside tree while swimming with friends late on Friday afternoon, a local official confirmed the same day.

-- A Vietnamese cryptocurrency executive allegedly used a fake bakery chain scheme to defraud investors, after launching digital tokens including VNDC, ONUS, and HNG and misleading promotions tied to a non-existent retail network, the Ministry of Public Security told a press briefing on Friday.
