-- King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck of Bhutan arrived in Hanoi on Monday afternoon, beginning their state visit to Vietnam through Friday at the invitation of Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong and his spouse.

-- Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City are investigating an incident in which five individuals blatantly set up a net across a road to play badminton in the Van Minh residential area in Binh Trung Ward. One of them even threatened a ride-hailing car driver with a knife after the driver objected to their actions.

-- Residents had handed over three pig-tailed macaques, one yellow mountain turtle, and a deer weighing approximately 200 kilograms to the Pu Mat National Park in Nghe An Province, north-central Vietnam for care, Le Anh Tuan, director of the national park, reported on Monday.

-- After more than two years of construction, the second branches of the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the National Children's Hospital have been completed and will be inaugurated this morning to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

-- The Soc Trang Maternity & Children Hospital successfully performed surgery to remove four magnets from the abdomen of a six-year-old boy, the hospital director reported on Monday.

-- The Southern Airports Authority has requested the People's Committees of Tan Son Hoa Ward and Tan Binh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City to promptly handle the garbage dump in front of the exit of T3 Terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Economy

-- The administration in Gia Lai Province on Monday held a conference to promote exports to the Chinese market, with the participation of a delegation of Chinese import businesses. The event aimed to boost the export of agricultural products such as coffee, pepper, rubber, and durians to China.

-- Military-run telecom Viettel Group announced on Monday that it would officially begin construction of the An Khanh data center and the Viettel research & development center, with a total investment of US$1 billion, on Tuesday.

-- National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will add over 100,000 seats on its flights from August 29 to September 3 this year, compared to the same period last year, to meet passenger travel demand during the National Day holiday.
