-- A tropical depression has entered the East Vietnam Sea and is expected to strengthen into storm Kajiki, the fifth storm to hit the marine area this year, on Saturday, with landfall in central Vietnam likely on Monday next week, according to the national weather forecasting center.

-- A Russian man filmed riding a motorbike at high speed, weaving through traffic and overtaking dangerously on a crowded Nha Trang street has already left Vietnam for China, local traffic police confirmed on Friday, adding that the case will still be handled in line with legal procedures.

-- For the first time in 80 years, overseas Vietnamese will join a parade at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, alongside military delegations from four invited countries.

-- Vietnam will launch its first international TV channel, Vietnam Today, on September 7, following a government decision to provide an official foreign broadcasting service promoting Vietnam abroad.

-- A massive fire broke out at Thanh Tung market in southern Ca Mau Province on Friday, destroying 56 kiosks and forcing dozens of people to flee. Authorities suspect the blaze began after a man allegedly set fire to his rented kiosk following a dispute with his wife.

-- Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper and Japan’s 80-year-old news agency Jiji Press are exploring deeper cooperation, including jointly organizing events in both countries, according to the outcomes of their meeting at Tuoi Tre’s headquarters in the city on Friday.

-- Vietnam’s major real estate developer Novaland has announced that its board of directors recently approved a plan to transfer its entire stake in Nova Property Management Co., Ltd., or Nova Property. The company is currently a wholly owned subsidiary with Novaland holding 99.99 percent of its charter capital.

World News

-- A tour bus carrying more than 50 people veered out of control and rolled over on an Upstate New York highway on Friday, killing at least five people and injuring dozens of others, Reuters reported, citing authorities on Saturday.

-- Canada will remove many retaliatory import tariffs on U.S. goods and intensify talks with the United States on striking a new trade and security relationship, Reuters cited Prime Minister Mark Carney as saying on Friday.
