-- Tran Luu Quang, secretary of the Party Central Committee and chairman of its Commission for Policies and Strategies, has been appointed secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020-25 term.

-- Typhoon Kajiki brought torrential rains to Vietnam's north-central coast on Monday, felling trees and flooding homes, despite wind speeds tapering off from earlier in the day, according to Reuters.

-- More than 135,000 foreign workers from over 110 countries and territories are working in Vietnam. These individuals contribute knowledge, technology, and modern management skills to the local economy, according to a conference held by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday.

-- Tran Van Thanh, 75, from Nghe An Province in north-central Vietnam, traveled more than 300 kilometers on his motorbike for two days to Hanoi to watch the full-scale rehearsal for Vietnam’s grand military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2) on Sunday evening.

He used to travel 1,300 kilometers by motorbike to Ho Chi Minh City to watch the military parade marking the 50th anniversary of the country’s Reunification Day on April 30.

-- Since 2021, Hue City in central Vietnam has supported the construction and renovation of 6,778 houses for poor and near-poor households, and policy beneficiaries, with a total budget of over VND350 billion (US$13.3 million), according to a conference held on Monday afternoon.
