-- Vietnam’s State President Luong Cuong, his spouse Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrived in Cairo on Sunday afternoon, starting their state visit to Egypt at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his spouse.

Society

-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation on Sunday afternoon visited Na Son, Tia Dinh, and Xa Dung Communes of Dien Bien Province in northern Vietnam to offer support and encouragement to residents severely impacted by floods and landslides.

-- Fishermen in Lien Huong Commune, Lam Dong Province, Vietnam on Sunday brought ashore the body of a whale weighing over seven metric tons and measuring 11 meters in length, and held a burial for it, a local official said the same day. The whale was found drifting about two nautical miles from shore on Saturday afternoon.

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City have proposed prosecuting 21 individuals, including two Nigerian nationals and 19 Vietnamese, for allegedly laundering money and illegally transporting currency across borders.

-- The northern mountainous and midland regions of Vietnam are forecast to experience a widespread heavy rain event, with rainfall ranging from 50 to 120mm, and exceeding 250mm in some places, from Monday evening to Thursday morning.

-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday requested state-run oil and gas group PetroVietnam to study and propose appropriate mechanisms and policies to achieve more breakthrough development, striving to become one of the top five enterprises in Southeast Asia.

-- Hanoi ranked 31st and Ho Chi Minh City placed 77th in the list of 105 global cities unveiled by the 2025 Telegraph Travel Awards, an annual travel ranking by the UK-based Telegraph newspaper.

-- All four students of Vietnam’s national team competing at the International Olympiad in Informatics 2025 in Sucre, Bolivia have won medals, news site Vietnamplus reported, citing the Ministry of Education and Training.
