-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and take part in bilateral activities in Japan from December 15 to 18, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday.

-- General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Party and state left Hanoi on Wednesday afternoon, concluding their successful two-day state visit to Vietnam, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- The Hanoi Stock Exchange has decided to suspend 29 companies from trading their shares on the Unlisted Public Company Market from Friday this week, as they missed the deadlines to publish their audited financial reports for more than three consecutive fiscal years.

-- A shrimp festival and a forum to promote One Commune One Product products wrapped up on Wednesday evening in Ca Mau Province, the southern tip of Vietnam, attracting over 40,000 visitors at home and abroad to the four-day events.

-- Four major Vietnamese banks – Vietcombank, VietinBank, Agribank, BIDV – announced their further deposit interest rate cuts on Wednesday. Vietcombank, which offers the lowest interest in the local market, trimmed the rate by 0.2 percentage points to 2.2 percent per year for 1- and 2-month terms.

-- Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang asked ministries, agencies, and authorities of coastal localities to make all-out efforts to remove the European Commission’s ‘yellow card’ warning against Vietnamese seafood, while addressing a meeting to discuss measures to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, southern Vietnam on Wednesday.

-- Representatives from nearly 200 countries agreed at the COP28 climate summit on Wednesday to begin reducing global consumption of fossil fuels to avert the worst of climate change, signaling the eventual end of the oil age, Reuters reported.

-- The Dow Jones industrial average hit its first record closing high since January 2022 and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq rallied more than one percent each on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve signaled that its interest rate-hiking policy is at an end and that it sees lower borrowing costs in 2024, according to Reuters.
