-- Major General Vu Trung Kien, deputy commander in charge of law of the Vietnam Coast Guard, and Vice Commandant Watanabe Yasunori of the Japan Coast Guard co-chaired the 10th bilateral meeting between the two forces in Tokyo on Wednesday, as part of a working trip to Japan by the Vietnam Coast Guard delegation through Friday. This is one of the last events of a series of cooperative activities this year to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

-- Two seventh graders drowned after one of them tried to rescue the other who fell into a river in the chilly weather in Quang Ngai Province, central Vietnam on Wednesday afternoon.

-- Four international scientists who invented green energy with solar-powered and lithium-ion batteries won the US$3-million VinFuture Grand Prize, as announced at an awards ceremony held in Hanoi on Wednesday night.

-- Prof. Vo Tong Xuan became Vietnam’s first scientist to secure a VinFuture prize. He was honored for his invention of a disease-resistant rice variety at a VinFuture awards ceremony held in Hanoi on Wednesday evening.

-- Thailand’s fintech company KBTG expanded its workforce in Vietnam to 120 employees from 30 after nearly half a year of its operation in the Vietnamese market.

-- The Seoul - Da Lat air route started its operation with the maiden flight landing at Lien Khuong International Airport in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong at 3:00 am on Thursday. South Korea’s airline Jeju Air operates seven round-trip flights a week on the air route.

-- Da Nang City, located in central Vietnam, is stepping up efforts to boost  MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Exhibitions), golf, and wedding tourism, as well as launch more direct air services to China, Europe, North America, Indonesia, India, Japan, Thailand, and South Korea to serve 8.42 million tourists, including 2.5 million international visitors, in 2024, heard a conference on the city’s tourism development held on Wednesday.
