-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong held phone talks on Tuesday to discuss strengthening the Vietnam–Singapore comprehensive strategic partnership, including cooperation on industrial parks, trade, clean energy, finance, and ASEAN coordination.

-- Police in Da Nang City, central Vietnam have dismantled a cross-border online fraud ring impersonating a bank, arresting 13 suspects returning from Cambodia and alleging the group defrauded more than 1,200 victims nationwide of an estimated VND100 billion (US$3.86 million), authorities said.

-- Authorities in Phu Quoc Special Zone, southern An Giang Province said on Tuesday they had detected a household business in Ganh Dau trading more than 100 types of smuggled goods worth over VND5.5 billion ($212,480), fined the owner VND90 million ($3,477), and ordered all the goods destroyed after no legal origin documents were produced.

-- Police in An Giang Province said on Tuesday they had charged three men with producing and selling counterfeit goods and using forged documents after uncovering an interprovincial ring that refurbished used transformers and sold them for years as fake branded products, seizing 137 units valued at more than VND20 billion ($772,652) at market prices.

-- Vietnam’s vehicle registry said inspection centers nationwide will issue electronic vehicle inspection certificates from March 1, with paper copies available on request and plans to integrate the data into government and police applications once approved.

-- Pet grooming and care shops in Nha Trang, south-central Khanh Hoa Province are operating at full capacity ahead of the Lunar New Year as demand surges for pre-holiday makeovers for dogs and cats.

Ho Chi Minh City

-- Ho Chi Minh City has tightened health controls at air and sea entry points by remotely screening the body temperature of all arriving passengers and stepping up citywide surveillance to prevent the spread of the Nipah virus, authorities said.

-- Ho Chi Minh City traffic police said on Tuesday they will close the Truong Dinh Street stretch between Nguyen Du Street and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday to serve the opening ceremony for the city’s 46th Spring Flower Festival, which will run from Thursday to February 22 at Tao Dan Park.

-- A Ho Chi Minh City court on Tuesday sentenced 11 defendants to prison terms of up to two years and nine months for causing public disorder after they staged and filmed a coffin-carrying procession near Ben Thanh Market to promote clothing on TikTok.
