-- A tourist boat carrying 41 passengers and crew caught fire on Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province late on Friday afternoon, but all on board were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported, local authorities confirmed the same day.

-- Unseasonal rains affecting southern Vietnam are gradually shifting westward and weakening, making way for a return of hot and sunny conditions, but forecasters said the rains are likely to come back shortly after.

-- The Hanoi administration has issued a plan to convert all gasoline- and diesel-powered taxis to electric or green energy vehicles by 2030, aiming to cut emissions and improve urban air quality.
