-- Health authorities in Lao Cai Province have advised residents to temporarily stop using pork-based products manufactured by Ha Long Canned Food JSC pending official conclusions from competent authorities, amid an ongoing investigation into the use of diseased pork at the company.

-- Hai Phong authorities have ordered tighter food safety inspections citywide after investigators uncovered the use of pork infected with African swine fever at Ha Long Canned Food JSC, prompting concerns about public health ahead of the Lunar New Year.

Ho Chi Minh City

-- The administration of Phu My Ward in Ho Chi Minh City confirmed on Monday it had issued an administrative fine of VND15 million (US$570) against L.C.T., owner of N.H. 'banh mi' shop, for operating a food service business without a valid certificate of eligibility for food safety, after 125 people were hospitalized with suspected food poisoning linked to the establishment starting from December 19 last year.

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City have launched a criminal case and detained a married couple accused of producing and distributing large quantities of fresh noodles containing banned and potentially hazardous chemicals, authorities said on Monday.

-- The Vietnam Administration of Disease Prevention under the Ministry of Health has issued an urgent directive to the Ho Chi Minh City health authority, calling for stronger measures to prevent and control dengue fever and hand-foot-and-mouth disease as both illnesses continue to show complex developments in the city.

-- Ho Chi Minh City authorities have officially dissolved the American International School Vietnam after the institution failed to remedy violations following a prolonged suspension of operations, according to a decision announced on Monday.

-- A delegation of 18 Malaysian travel companies from the state of Sabah arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday to explore cooperation opportunities and introduce new tourism products to Vietnamese travelers, as part of efforts to expand Sabah’s presence in the Vietnamese market.

-- Vietnam Airlines has been ranked among the top 25 safest full-service airlines in the world for 2026 by AirlineRatings, placing 19th globally, up three positions from 2025. The national flag carrier is the only representative from Vietnam to make the list.
