-- A new cold air mass moves into northern Vietnam on Monday, bringing colder weather, while parts of central Vietnam see heavy rain and the south experiences unseasonal showers.

-- Vietnam’s traffic police said on Sunday that 196 road accidents nationwide during the four-day New Year holiday from January 1 to 4 killed 94 people and injured 154, down 18.7 percent in crashes and 31.9 percent in fatalities but up 12.4 percent in injuries from the same period in 2025.

-- Authorities in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam are investigating after a construction worker was killed on Sunday when a large steel column fell on him at the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh Expressway expansion project.

-- Police in Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam said on Sunday they were investigating a video circulating online in which some foreign tourists were threatened with shovels and chairs by a group of Vietnamese people on Nha Trang Beach.

-- Vietnam’s Food Safety Authority said on Sunday it had ordered a probe into a suspected food poisoning incident that sent multiple workers to hospital with symptoms including skin redness and headaches after a lunch meal at Unisoll Vina Co Ltd in Vinh Long Province.

-- Police in Quang Ninh Province said on Sunday they had dismantled a large gambling ring operating in Ha Long Bay, arresting 30 people and seizing gambling equipment and more than VND430 million (US$16,350) in cash.

Travel

-- Vietnam recorded an estimated 3.5 million tourist visits nationwide during the New Year holiday, with Ho Chi Minh City accounting for more than 30 percent of the total, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

-- Authorities in Dong Thap Province said on Sunday at the closing ceremony that the second Sa Dec Flower Festival drew an estimated 1.2 million visitors over nine days.

Entertainment

-- Vietnam’s Cinema Department on Sunday ordered Netflix to immediately remove the Chinese drama ‘Shine on Me’ from its platform in Vietnam after authorities found a scene showing a map with the so-called nine-dash line that misrepresented geography and violated Vietnam’s national sovereignty.
