Society

-- The Hanoi Department of Construction has submitted a report to the municipal People’s Committee on the transition to green transportation and the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, proposing financial support of VND3 million (US$114) per electric motorcycle for ordinary individuals, VND4 million ($152) for near-poor households, and VND5 million ($190) for poor households.

-- Lien Khuong International Airport in Lam Dong Province will temporarily shut down for major repairs and upgrades in March 2026, instead of November this year as initially planned.

-- A multiple-vehicle collision occurred on Nguyen Trac Street in Duong Noi Ward, Hanoi at around 8:15 pm on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring several others.

-- Vietnam has made remarkable progress in protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases, the Vietnam News Agency cited the latest World Health Organization and UNICEF estimates of national immunization coverage released on Tuesday.

-- A representative of South Korea’s Segyung Hi-Tech on Wednesday afternoon was committed to dismissing the South Korean employee involved in a recent assault at a photobooth in Hanoi, and also issued an apology and agreed to compensate the victims.

The incident unfolded on Friday evening last week. While two Vietnamese women, who had made a reservation and paid to use the booth within an allotted time slot, were taking photos, two South Korean women appeared, stood outside, loudly scolded, and verbally abused the Vietnamese.

-- One lane of Long Thanh Bridge, which has only two lanes, was closed for joint repairs, leading to severe congestion along a section of Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway from National Highway 51 to the foot of the bridge in southern Vietnam on Wednesday.

Economy

-- Vietnam Railways on Wednesday began selling international train tickets for the Vietnam–China route connecting Hanoi with China’s Nanning at all railway stations nationwide, instead of only at Hanoi, Gia Lam, Bac Giang, and Dong Dang Stations as before.

-- To achieve double-digit economic growth between 2025 and 2030, Khanh Hoa Province has set several goals, including becoming one of the national and regional hubs for the semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence, and data centers.

Travel

-- Hanoi is the most searched destination by Vietnamese travelers for the National Day holiday, from August 29 to September 3, according to the latest data from the travel platform Booking.com. In comparison, during the same period in 2024, Hanoi ranked only seventh on the list.
