-- Southwest monsoon winds will dominate Ho Chi Minh City’s weather in July, with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected for more than 20 days, the southern meteorological agency said. Rainfall is forecast to be near or above the long-term average, with increased rain mid- to late-month and a possible tropical storm or depression over the East Vietnam Sea.

-- Deputy Construction Minister Pham Minh Ha has approved the investment plan for the Can Tho 2 Bridge, which will have six lanes, a design speed of 100 km/h, and lane widths of 3.75 meters, connecting Can Tho City and Vinh Long Province.

-- A former police officer faces the death penalty for allegedly using a ward patrol car to transport drugs for a female kingpin, a Hanoi court heard on Tuesday.

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City have arrested a couple for allegedly producing nearly 70,000 bottles of counterfeit Eagle Brand Medicated Oil, a Singaporean product, since 2022, with an estimated market value of over VND6 billion (US$229,621).

-- Hanoi police have launched a criminal investigation into the leaking of national high school graduation exam questions, which were allegedly disclosed on June 26.

-- Vietnam’s agriculture and environment ministry has introduced new sampling rules for quarantine inspections of imported animals for food, effective Tuesday.

Economy

-- Vietnam’s National Statistics Office on Tuesday launched the 2025 national rural and agricultural census, covering 62.5 million rural residents to support rural development planning.

-- Vietnam’s gold prices rose to a more-than-one-month high on Tuesday, with Saigon Jewelry Company’s gold bar up 1.25 percent to VND120.7 million ($4,619) per tael, tracking global gains driven by a weaker dollar.

-- Major General Tao Duc Thang, chairman and CEO of Viettel Group, said on Tuesday the Vietnamese state-owned telecommunications company will begin construction of a landing station for the Asia Link Cable (ALC) in Da Nang in the third quarter and will also start work on a 14MW Uptime Tier 3 data center in the same city in early 2026, the largest of its kind in central Vietnam.

Travel

-- Vietnam Airlines officially launched its first non-stop flight between Hanoi and Milan on Tuesday, marking the first non-stop route between Vietnam and Italy.

-- Philippine Airlines flight PR585 carrying 193 passengers landed for the first time at Da Nang International Airport on Tuesday, marking the official launch of the carrier’s direct route between Manila and Da Nang.
