-- Khanh Hoa Province in south-central Vietnam has launched a rental housing development plan that allocates about 2,100 units, or roughly 20.8 percent of its target of 10,088 social housing units by 2030, for rental housing and worker accommodation in line with the government’s housing goals.

-- Hue Central Hospital said on Tuesday its doctors had successfully removed a safety pin lodged in the esophagus of a nine-month-old girl from Kazakhstan.

Economy

-- Vietnam’s stock market had 13.43 million trading accounts at the end of June, up more than 268,400 from the previous month and marking the strongest monthly increase in three months, according to the Vietnam Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation.

-- Authorities in Hanoi’s Soc Son Commune have approved a detailed 1:500 plan for a US$420 million, 125-hectare horse racing and entertainment complex featuring a 30,000-seat grandstand, racing tracks, horse training facilities, hotels, commercial space, and landscaped areas.

Ho Chi Minh City

-- Ho Chi Minh City’s Public Transport Management Center said on Tuesday that the city’s bus network carried 1.6 million passengers between July 1 and July 6, up 33 percent from a year earlier, after it reviewed the first week of a fare-free program covering 134 bus routes with transport operators.

-- During a meeting on Tuesday with Okabe Mitsutoshi, chief representative of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Ho Chi Minh City, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said Japan remained one of the city’s key economic partners and the city was committed to improving its investment climate and working with JETRO to attract more high-quality projects.

-- Ho Chi Minh City police said on Tuesday they had arrested 85 people and charged them in connection with two football betting rings involving transactions worth more than VND3.5 trillion ($133.12 million).

-- Ho Chi Minh City is seeking public feedback on a draft resolution that would subsidize up to 30 percent of the cost of semiconductor chip design projects, capped at VND15 billion ($570,514) per project, as the city seeks to accelerate growth in the strategic industry.

-- Ho Chi Minh City is emerging as a fashion tourism destination, with some local fashion retailers reporting that international visitors account for 60 percent to 70 percent of their revenue.

-- Ho Chi Minh City’s travel services revenue rose 10 percent year on year to more than VND19.1 trillion ($726.46 million) in the first half of 2026, official data showed.
