-- The Vietnamese Politburo has decided to establish a Central Steering Committee for Foreign Affairs and International Integration with 37 members, chaired by General Secretary and State President To Lam.

-- A female passenger died after a tourist boat carrying 10 passengers sank in Lan Ha Bay near Van Boi Beach in Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam on Sunday following a collision with another vessel. All remaining passengers and crew were rescued and taken ashore, local authorities said.

-- Hanoi’s Center for Disease Control said it recorded the capital’s first Japanese encephalitis case of 2026 in a 13-year-old boy from Hung Dao Commune, who is receiving treatment after catching the disease about a week ago despite having received three basic vaccine doses but not a recommended booster shot.

-- Hanoi has proposed investing more than VND3.56 trillion (US$135.3 million) in building 1,166 rental apartments in Viet Hung Ward by 2028, aiming to expand long-term rental housing for workers, students, and other residents.

-- Heavy traffic from summer holidaymakers returning to Ho Chi Minh City caused severe congestion on multiple sections of the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway on Sunday afternoon, particularly in the direction from Dau Giay to the city.
