-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a meeting with his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong on the sidelines of the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum in China on Wednesday.

-- Doctors at Ninh Thuan General Hospital in the namesake south-central province successfully removed a 5.5cm-long bamboo toothpick that had pierced through the perforated cecum, part of the large intestine, of a 28-year-old male patient, a representative of the hospital reported on Wednesday.

-- Starting July 1, passengers can purchase tickets for Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City at automated ticket machines installed at stations, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway No. 1 Co., Ltd., which manages the metro line, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

-- The Can Tho Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital said on Wednesday that it had issued a call to intensify blood donation campaigns due to a shortage of blood for emergency care and treatment of patients in the Mekong Delta region.

-- Many roads in An Nghiep Industrial Park, the largest industrial zone in Soc Trang Province, southern Vietnam, are deteriorating, with numerous potholes appearing and several sections becoming flooded given rainy conditions.

-- Can Tho Children’s Hospital in southern Vietnam reported on Wednesday that it had successfully treated a two-year-old boy who suffered a complex head injury over 10cm long, exposing the skull, with severe abrasions to the head and face caused by a dog attack.

-- Customs officers at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi have discovered 12 pieces of yellow metal suspected to be gold weighing nearly two kilograms, valued at over VND5.5 billion (US$210,467), hidden inside four camera lenses of a passenger from Taiwan.

-- Although escalating conflicts in the Middle East have driven up transportation costs due to rising prices of oil, gas, and gold, many Vietnamese export businesses are still striving to find opportunities amid global supply chain disruptions.

Travel

-- Thailand, a long-time dominant destination for tourism in Southeast Asia, is facing a decline in international tourist arrivals, including visitors from Vietnam. Only over 300,000 Vietnamese travelers visited Thailand in the first five months of 2025.
