-- A low-pressure trough stretching across the central East Vietnam Sea, linked to a low-pressure area, has brought heavy showers and thunderstorms to the central and southern parts of the East Vietnam Sea—including the waters around Vietnam's Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands—as well as offshore areas from Binh Thuan Province to Ca Mau Province, Ca Mau Province to Kien Giang Province, and the Gulf of Thailand on Sunday and Monday, the national weather agency said.

-- Ho Chi Minh City’s health department on Sunday said doctors at Binh Dan Hospital successfully treated a U.S. businessman with a complex urethral stricture, a condition he had unsuccessfully sought treatment for in several countries over the past 15 years.

-- Authorities in Da Nang have fined a row of riverside beer halls along the Han River for violating noise regulations, with sound levels exceeding permitted limits by 15 to under 20 decibels.

-- Da Nang authorities fined a beachfront resort in Son Tra District more than VND224 million (US$8,597) after beachgoers reported a foul odor. The resort was found to have discharged wastewater into the sea and committed multiple other violations.

-- Authorities in Khanh Hoa Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam released more than 423,500 juvenile fish and shrimp into Nha Trang Bay on Sunday as part of their efforts to restore marine resources.

-- Station staff in Quang Ngai Province, central Vietnam on Sunday found and returned a backpack containing $2,200 that had been accidentally left behind by a female passenger traveling to Ho Chi Minh City.

Economy

-- The Hanoi Stock Exchange said it held 17 government bond auctions in May, raising VND18.05 trillion ($692.8 million). In January–May, total bond sales through auctions reached VND170.92 trillion ($6.5 billion), or 34.2 percent of the full-year target.

-- Vietnam’s women’s volleyball team made history by climbing to a record-high world No. 30 after a 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei at the 2025 AVC Nations Cup in Hanoi on Sunday night.

-- Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo was in tears as he led his country to their second Nations League title by beating holders Spain 5-3 on penalties following a thrilling 2-2 draw after extra time in Sunday’s showpiece match, Reuters reported.

-- Carlos Alcaraz battled from the brink of a first Grand Slam final loss to outlast Jannik Sinner in a French Open title clash for the ages on Sunday and keep his crown, cementing his status as the Prince of Clay in Roland Garros’ post-Rafa Nadal era, Reuters reported.
