-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a phone call on Monday evening with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, to discuss developments in the Middle East and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

-- Heavy rainfall is forecast to move into central Vietnam on Tuesday, while northern areas will experience cooler temperatures and reduced rain and the south remains sunny but may soon see unseasonal showers, according to the national weather center.

-- Three boys in Da Nang were hospitalized with suspected botulinum poisoning after eating a traditional dish of fermented fish, according to a report from the Northern Quang Nam Mountain Regional General Hospital on Monday.

-- An American tourist who left her wallet behind at Dong Hoi Airport in Quang Tri Province was reunited with her belongings after airport security tracked it down and returned it, officials confirmed on Monday.

-- One person was killed after a truck crashed into a stationary tractor-trailer on the Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway on Monday, authorities said.

Economy

-- Vietnamese dairy and food producer TH Group on Monday began construction of a large-scale clean food processing plant in Ho Chi Minh City with total investment exceeding VND6 trillion (US$228 million).

-- Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah agreed to consider continuing crude oil supplies to Vietnam and to expand energy cooperation between the two countries during a phone call with PM Chinh on Monday.

-- The Vietnamese government has issued Decree 72 reducing import tariffs on several fuel products to zero percent, effective from March 9 through April 30, in an effort to stabilize the domestic fuel market amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

-- The Ministry of Industry and Trade has warned of possible localized fuel shortages and urged residents and businesses to reduce fuel consumption, including limiting private vehicle use and increasing remote work, as tensions in the Middle East threaten global energy supplies.
