-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception in Hanoi on Thursday for Russian Minister of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Aleksandr Kurenkov, suggesting that Russia step up technology transfer and production cooperation for specialized vehicles and technical equipment, organize joint exercises, and continue supporting Vietnam in personnel training in the field.

-- Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence General Nguyen Tan Cuong received the Russian minister in Hanoi on the same day.

-- The Vietnamese government and relevant ministries are adopting various measures to minimize the negative impacts of the conflict in the Middle East on the country’s trade, economic, and energy activities.

-- PM Chinh met with 20 ambassadors and chargé d'affaires of the European Union (EU) and EU member states in Hanoi on Thursday, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Horse.

Society

-- Da Nang International Airport in central Vietnam will be equipped with safety technologies including an advanced runway incursion warning system, a multilateration surveillance system, an airport surface surveillance system, and bird detection and dispersal equipment.

Ho Chi Minh City

-- In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City recorded many drug cases that originated from Europe and the Americas and were transported via express delivery and air transport.

-- MM Mega Market Vietnam, in collaboration with the British Embassy in Hanoi and the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, on Thursday officially launched the ‘Taste of the UK’ for the first time, aiming to promote and enhance the presence of UK food products in the Vietnamese market.

Economy

-- Lottery firms in the southern region will be allowed to increase their ticket issuance value from VND140 billion (US$5.3 million) to VND160 billion ($6.1 million) starting April 1.

Travel

-- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the People’s Committee of Gia Lai Province, held a press briefing in Hanoi on Thursday to introduce the Visit Vietnam Year – Gia Lai 2026 under the theme ‘Mountains Embrace the Sea,’ which will take place in late March and feature 244 events, including 18 organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, 109 hosted by Gia Lai, and 117 response activities in 22 provinces and cities.
