-- Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra attended a dinner hosted by her Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi on Thursday, as part of her official visit and the fourth Vietnam–Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting.

Society

-- Vietnam’s Politburo has called for policies to support women who have two children before the age of 35.

-- Ho Chi Minh City is planning to build the Vam Thuat Bridge to connect Binh Thanh District and District 12, replacing the deteriorating An Phu Dong iron bridge and improving travel safety for residents.

-- Ba Lua Stream, which flows through several industrial zones in Bien Hoa City, located in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam, before joining the Dong Nai River, has turned unusually foamy, raising concerns among local residents.

-- The Vietnam–Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital in central Vietnam said on Thursday it had saved a young man in a critical condition after he was impaled through the chest by a large wooden stick about 20 cm deep.

-- A Taiwanese tourist has accused a staff member at Phu Quoc International Airport in Kien Giang Province, southern Vietnam of tearing their boarding pass, airport authorities said on Thursday, adding that the incident is under investigation.

Economy

-- The developers of The Grand Ho Tram resort in southern Vietnam broke ground on a new US$1 billion expansion on Thursday, aiming to boost the area’s tourism and hospitality capacity with luxury hotels, villas, a convention center, and a casino.

-- Saigon Passenger Transport JSC, which operates several popular public bus routes in Ho Chi Minh City, said strategic shareholder Tan Thanh Do Group, which holds a 24.05-percent stake, has registered to sell its entire 14.4 million shares to raise funds for business expansion.

Sports

-- Vietnam’s women’s beach handball team beat the Philippines 2-0 early Friday (Vietnam time) to win the 2025 Asian Women’s Beach Handball Championship in Oman, claiming the title for the third consecutive time.

-- “Barcelona secured their 28th LaLiga title on Thursday when they beat city rivals Espanyol 2-0, securing an unassailable seven-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid with two games left to play,” Reuters reported.
