-- Ngo Phuong Ly, the spouse of Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam, and Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President Emmanuel Macron, visited the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi to view Vietnam’s national treasures on Monday.

Society

-- Children's Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City reported on Monday that it had received an eight-year-old girl from Binh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam, who was lifted high into the air by a rolling door after she had grabbed onto it. When she was rescued, she was unable to speak, her limbs were cyanotic, and she was in cardiac and respiratory arrest and unconscious.

-- A man from Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province in southern Vietnam has died from rabies four months after being bitten by a dog. This is the second rabies-related death reported in the province since the beginning of 2025, according to the provincial Center for Disease Control.

-- More than one-third of all paid reviews to Tripadvisor in 2024 originated from Indonesia and Vietnam, according to Tripadvisor’s transparency report.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the “Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development in Vietnam” project, on Monday announced the launch of the Swiss Executive Hospitality Training program which aims to enhance professional competence, ethics, and international competitiveness for personnel in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Economy

-- Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company and French pharmaceutical group Sanofi have just signed a cooperation agreement on vaccine production technology transfer, witnessed by Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong and French President Emmanuel Macron.

-- At a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Malaysia on Sunday, Dato' Chow Chee Wah, chairman of Gamuda Land Group, stated that Gamuda is the largest Malaysian investor in Vietnam, with a total investment of over US$5 billion, and plans to inject several more billion dollars into the Vietnamese market in the near future.

-- Vietnam’s electric vehicle maker VinFast is launching an early reservation program for its electric cargo vans in Vietnam from May 25 to 30, offering a discount of VND10 million ($386.4) directly off the selling price for all customers.

World News

-- A car ploughed into a crowd of Liverpool fans during a parade celebrating their side's Premier League soccer title on Monday, hospitalising 27 people, with two seriously injured, but police said they did not believe the incident was terrorism-related, Reuters reported.

-- U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he is considering taking $3 billion of previously awarded grant money for scientific and engineering research away from Harvard University and giving it to trade schools, according to Reuters.
