-- Indian Navy ship INS Darshak, commanded by Colonel Praveen Thomas, docked at Saigon Port on Thursday, beginning a three-day visit to Ho Chi Minh City.

-- Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung had separate meetings with Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Muto Yoji and former Prime Minister Kishida Fumio in Tokyo on Thursday, as part of his business trip to the East Asian nation and attendance at the 30th Future of Asia forum, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

Society

-- A section of the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh–Dau Giay expressway in southern Vietnam, from An Phu Interchange to Ring Road No. 2, will be expanded to eight lanes.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has issued a decision to establish a task force, led by chairman of the municipal administration Nguyen Van Duoc, to crack down on smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property rights infringement.

-- The state of nutrition in Ho Chi Minh City is currently improving. The rates of malnutrition among children under five years old and school-aged kids have gradually decreased over time and are among the lowest in Vietnam, according to the municipal Department of Health.

Economy

-- Apple revealed on Thursday that it was expanding the employee training program in its supplier chain in Vietnam, aiming to launch over 45 technical training courses this year.

-- The newly upgraded version of the Skoda Karoq SUV officially debuted in the Vietnamese market on Thursday, with two completely built-up variants imported from Europe.

Education

-- At a regular press briefing on Thursday, the Vietnamese foreign ministry's spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang expressed hope that the U.S. would ensure a smooth visa application and interview process for Vietnamese students, reinforcing education as a key pillar of the Vietnam–U.S. comprehensive strategic partnership.

-- The Research Institute for Socio-Economics of Saigon University in Ho Chi Minh City and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Representative Office in Vietnam on Thursday signed a cooperation agreement focused on advancing socio-economic research and policy dialogue, training and capacity development, and knowledge transfer.
