-- The administration in Dam Doi District, Ca Mau Province, southern Vietnam on Monday rescued a four-year-old girl who was physically abused by her adoptive father, a local official said the same day.

-- The People’s Committee of Cam Pha City in Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam on Monday told the investor of a residential and hotel complex project which was designed to cover 31.8 hectares, including 3.88 hectares in the buffer zone of the UNESCO-recognized Ha Long Bay, to suspend the project as it was supposed to be a threat to the world heritage site and has prompted a public outcry.

-- Vietnamese lender SeABank on Monday paid the interest on savings since 2019 of a married Vietnamese couple from Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam after informing that they would receive no interest because they hold foreign passports several days earlier. The bank offered three interest rates for the savings in different periods, at 7.7, 6.35, and 0.2 percent.

-- Traffic congestion occurred on many streets in Hanoi on Monday afternoon and evening, causing thousands of motorbikes and automobiles to move at a snail’s pace.

-- Vietnamese tech giant FPT on Monday announced its acquisition of U.S.-based product engineering service firm Cardinal Peak, a move to strengthen its product engineering delivery capabilities in North America.

-- Vietnamese building material manufacturer Viglacera has successfully produced the first ultra clear glass, which has a low iron content and light transmission of 91.5 percent, in Vietnam to meet the demand of local projects.

-- The Vietnam Football Federation has denied rumors that FIFA approved an investment of up to US$100 million for Vietnam to build a new stadium. The rumors have spread on TikTok over the past few days.

-- “Vladimir Putin has decided to run in the March presidential election, a move that will keep him in power until at least 2030, as the Kremlin chief feels he must steer Russia through the most perilous period in decades,” six sources told Reuters.
