-- Major gateways to big cities experienced heavy traffic jams on Tuesday afternoon as residents rushed to return early from the National Day holiday, aiming to give their children time to rest before the new school year. Residents are enjoying the National Day holiday, which runs until Wednesday, or September 2.

-- Traffic police in many localities are facing difficulties in dealing with riders of large-displacement motorcycles who speed, make reckless overtaking maneuvers, weave through traffic and perform wheelies.

-- The Hanoi People’s Procuracy has issued an indictment charging Dong Minh Tuan, a 35-year-old resident of Ninh Binh Province, with property appropriation fraud. Tuan allegedly used Photoshop to create 309 fake screenshots showing successful bank transfers, enabling him to obtain goods worth more than VND13 billion (US$498,170) from a female vendor at Ninh Hiep Market.

-- UNICEF Representative Silvia Danailov praised Vietnam's pioneering role and strong political commitment to protecting children online, highlighting the country's remarkable achievements in building and enforcing a robust digital legal framework, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Ho Chi Minh City

-- Many communes and wards in Ho Chi Minh City are continuing to offer free health checkups to residents during the ongoing National Day holiday. As of August 30, the city had recorded over 3.7 million people receiving health checkups, equivalent to 29.1 percent of its population, according to the municipal Department of Health.

-- The municipal Department of Education and Training has ordered Hoa Sen Secondary and High School to cease all admissions and educational activities at its facility on Hanoi Highway, as the school has yet to provide the required legal documents.
