-- The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said on Friday afternoon that it is cooperating with its South Korean counterpart to investigate a case where a flight of T’Way Air, a low-cost carrier from South Korea, asked for ground assistance upon landing at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday early morning.

-- Four gas filling stations illegally operating in Hai An District in the northern Vietnamese city of Hai Phong have been ordered to shut down, following an inspection at several gas and oil business establishments in the district on Friday.

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 3 said on Friday that they are detaining two Vietnamese men, both 47 years old, for forcing two Filipino women to pay ten times higher the agreed price of a xich lo (cycle rickshaw) tour around District 1 on September 16.

-- Ninety-nine households and 180 hectares of aquaculture in Bac Son Commune, Trang Bom District, in the southern province of Dong Nai were deeply submerged following a water discharge by the Tri An hydroelectric dam combined with heavy rain in the province, local authorities said on Friday.

-- The Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City has been listed as the only Vietnamese representative in the top 500 universities in the world for nurturing employability among newly graduated student, according to the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2019 announced on Thursday by Quacquarelli Symonds, a British company specializing in education.

-- The organizer of Monsoon Music Festival 2019, one of the largest music events in Vietnam, has announced a star-studded performer list featuring several international artists from around the world for its return to Hanoi scheduled from November 1 to 3 this year.

-- The set of the Hollywood’s 2017 blockbuster Kong: Skull Island within the Trang An eco-tourism complex in the northern Vietnamese province of Ninh Binh was dismantled on Friday afternoon to preserve the natural beauty of the area.

Sports

-- Australia’s Cadel Evans, winner of the 2011 Tour de France and the 2009 Road Cycling World Championship, will compete with nearly 1,000 other cyclists, including 125 foreign contenders from 24 countries, in the Coupe De Hue Gran Fondo Ride 2019 in central Vietnamese province of Thua Thien-Hue on September 21 and 22.
