-- National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his spouse, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, will pay official visits to South Korea and Mongolia from September 6 to 11.

-- Vietnam regards Japan as one of its most important and long-term strategic partners and a trusted companion in the new era of development, National Assembly Vice-Chairman Nguyen Thi Thanh said while receiving Saito Hiroaki, a member of the Japanese House of Representatives and chair of its Committee on Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, together with lawmakers from Japan's Liberal Democratic Party and Centrist Reform Alliance, in Hanoi on Thursday, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

-- The four-lane Quang Ngai-Kon Tum Expressway project, which will span some 136 kilometers from central Vietnam to the Central Highlands region, with a preliminary total investment of VND52.1 trillion (US$1.9 billion), is expected to be implemented during the 2026-30 period.

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City have made an emergency arrest of a 49-year-old man for investigation after he allegedly forced a tourist’s vehicle off the road and assaulted the visitor with his hands, a sandal, and a helmet on Hai Dang Street in Vung Tau.

-- Blue Pool Capital, an investment management firm affiliated with billionaire Joe Tsai, co-founder and chairman of Alibaba Group, participated in DatVietVAC’s initial public offering (IPO). Some 90 percent of the shares on offer have been subscribed before the books close on September 7.

-- After more than a decade of operating the electronic toll collection system, VETC JSC has been profitable over the past two years, but it still carries more than VND420 billion ($16.1 million) in accumulated losses.
