Bus crash kills 4, injures 12 in Vietnam’s Lam Dong

The accident occurred at around 3:30 pm in Hong Lam Hamlet where the 24-seater bus failed to turn at an intersection with the Hoa Thang-Hoa Phu road and fell into a deep ravine while en route from Hoa Thang toward Phan Ri Cua Commune.

Police said three victims died at the scene, while another succumbed at the hospital.

Twelve others were injured, including two in critical condition.

The victims are being treated at Binh Thuan General Hospital, where doctors provided emergency care and dispatched ambulances to assist at the crash site, the hospital’s director Luu Huynh Phuc told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

Rescue teams worked for hours to recover the bus, which was found overturned and severely damaged.

By 5:00 pm, the vehicle was lifted from the ravine.

The road DT715 was temporarily closed for investigation.

Colonel Tran Van Muoi and Colonel Dau Xuan Bao, deputy chiefs of the provincial police department, directed rescue operations and traffic control.

Nguyen Duc Hai Tung, secretary of the Hoa Thang Commune Party Committee, also joined rescue efforts at the scene.

The driver’s identity remains unknown, while investigators are examining whether mechanical failure or driver error caused the crash, said Nguyen Van Tiep, head of the provincial police department’s traffic police unit.

Police emphasized that the cause cannot be determined until the investigation is complete.
