Du Thai Binh, deputy director of Du Thai Binh Co., Ltd. in Nam Can Commune, said on Thursday that the provincial Sub-department of Standards, Metrology and Quality had presented the company with a certificate recognizing the record for the largest Ca Mau crab in Vietnam.

The certificate was issued by the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings).

The crab measured 199.7 millimeters across its shell and weighed more than 1.8 kilograms after the tying string was removed.

The record was set at a competition held as part of the second Ca Mau Crab Festival in 2025.

Binh called the recognition a significant milestone for the business, noting that the firm is the first enterprise in Vietnam to receive a national record title for a crab product from Ca Mau.

He said the company will continue promoting the Ca Mau crab brand while enhancing product quality.

The firm aims to develop what it describes as the ‘most delicious, cleanest and largest crab in Vietnam,’ helping raise the profile of the local specialty in both domestic and international markets.

Ca Mau has long led the country in brackish-water shrimp production and boasts the largest crab farming area nationwide, with more than 365,000 hectares under cultivation, accounting for about 78 percent of Vietnam’s total crab farming area.

Annual output surpasses 36,000 metric tons, or roughly 53 percent of the national total, earning the province the title of Vietnam’s ‘crab capital.’
